Central to my artistic practice is my lifelong fascination for the world of 3D, miniature objects and spaces. Within this practice I construct micro scenarios using detailed hand built models in combination with ready-made, every day objects and materials.
Using a variety of media in conjunction with sculptured light, moving image and sound, I intend to create illusionary microcosms that attempt to transport the viewer to a virtual ‘other world’. These reconstructed areas, incorporating a variety of viewing interfaces challenge issues of time, absence, spirituality and claustrophobia. Contradictions of scale also influence how the work is perceived and encourage the viewer to question weather the space is a real space or a reconstructed one?
