Tonight, We’re Not Afraid of Anything (2006)

More Information
This 40ft long illuminated model subway first featured as part of my Degree Show in 2006 and utilised the unwanted space between two long exhibition display walls. The model has hidden microphones at each end below the viewing apertures and encourages viewers to audibly communicate with each other and play with the echo of a subway in whichever way they wish!

The model tries to capture the intimidating threat and dangers associated with walking through a subway either alone or with friends whilst appreciating the aesthetic modernist quality of an illuminated 1970’s concrete underpass!

Verbal interaction with the work allows the viewer to play with the echo characteristics of a subway like we all love to do, as kids or as adults in a real, life-size subway – so go on, let yourself go and shoutout whatever you want!

The work later went on to feature as part of ‘The World is my Imagination’ exhibition at Cube Gallery, Manchester in 2007.
